Mould Handling

C Lear and Sons supply and manufacture a full range of mould handling solutions suitable for use with both green sand moulds and resin bonded sand moulds.
Pallet Track
Simple 4 wheel cars run on a track, allowing moulds to be closed on cars, cast on the cars and fed to the knock-out. Usually the track is in a loop allowing empty cars to be returned back to the moulding area. Extra storage lines can be incorporated in to this system by using simple points or a stacked track system using a lifting section of track.
The specially designed diablo wheels and continuous hard wearing track provide a low friction smooth ride for the moulds, increasing output and reducing broken moulds. Each track layout and car size can be individually designed to meet each customers requirements.
Pallet Lines
The pallet lines are designed to give maximum production from green sand moulding machines. Each line or track carries pallet cars which can carry several moulds at a time. As each mould is produced by the moulder it is loaded onto a car behind the moulder, when each car is full the car is pushed along the track until it reaches the casting area, where it is poured, and then moved along to cool. As more moulds are completed the cast moulds are pushed along to the dump end of the track, where they are automatically lifted and dumped into a feeder/knock out. The cars are then returned, empty, back along a bottom track to the moulders for re-use. Each pair of moulding machines usually has one track behind it, allowing tracks to run parallel where there are several pairs of machines.
Roller Conveyor
We can supply all types of roller conveyor, ball tables, junctions, transfer cars, hydraulic lift tables, etc, suitable for moulding, storage, casting and cooling.
Mould Closing Conveyor
C Lear and Sons manufacture bespoke mould closing conveyers, which are slow moving belt conveyors designed to mechanically progress the mould through the coring and closing process. Providing a continuously slow moving work top, at a convenient working height, allowing operatives to core up and close the mould, positioned between mould production and mould storage.
Crane Mounted Mould Manipulators
Mechanical mould handling is a requirement for any mould over 25kg, with this in mind C Lear and Sons can supply a range of mould manipulators, hydraulically, pneumatically or electrically operated for picking up, rotating and positioning moulds. Various models are available for different sizes/weights of moulds.

The Sand Screen/Aerator

The sand screen has been designed as a simple cost effective way to produce good, well aerated green sand for use by the moulders, where the use of a sand mill is not practical.
The machine has an output of 5-6 tonnes per hour, and
has proved itself to be the most economical means of providing good, well
aerated sand to feed back to moulders. If used with a small hopper the
sand can be fed directly from a Bobcat or other similar machine.
The machine consists of vibrating mesh screen, to remove
any large impurities, which feeds the sand onto a high
speed rotary aerator fitted with hardened steel removable
blades which aerates and throws the sand forward where
it can be mounded up for reuse.
Mounted at floor level without the need for pits, single drive unit complete with starting equipment means that the machine is ready to connect up and run on delivery.
